A lovely dark leaved dahlia with lots of bright orange flowers. Really striking. I had it in a pot which previously held one of our sad peonies. It looked a bit sad as it was probably a bit cramped. Tried to keep it fed and it did flower well. This was lifted on 7 November […]
After potting up from new, this Dahlia showed signs of Crown Gall. A bacterial infection which leads to distorted leaves and a disappointing plant. I did plant it up, but it just got worse and I eventually decided to bin it. Sad really. It was to be a lovely big yellow one, but it was […]
A really striking triple coloured Dahlia. Subsequent blooms seem to have less red and more white. Maybe due to the ground conditions or dry weather. It made a really big plant with lots of stems on it. Filled out wonderfully. Took good cuttings from it too and gave them away. It seemed to survive overwintering. […]
The first of my Dahlias to flower. Really big blooms. Wonderfully striking. Took good cuttings from it too and that has flowered well also. It seemed to survive overwintering. Potted up in March 2021.

First flower … TBC This got really attacked by the slugs when it first went in the ground. Whether this was due to its position or if it particularly tasty for them, I don’t know. It seemed to survive overwintering. Potted up in March 2021.
A lovely Calla Lilly which we always forget that we have. It takes a while to appear, but seems to do well in a pot. I may plant it out in the main border over the winter, although don’t want it to rot off in the wet. It only produced one flower in 2020. I […]
