This was an impulse buy. A lovely little buttercup with light green leaves. We didn’t have a proper alpine bed ready for it when we bought it so I put in the main bed with the other grasses. It really didn’t like our wet winter and did not come up in 2020. Died: March 2020

Dianthus ‘Red Claret’
This was a free plug from Whetman Pinks for the Festival, along with “Bridal Star”. I potted it up and then finally put them in the main top border as I didn’t really have anywhere to put it, but it has done really well. Good flowers for cutting all summer. It was dug up and […]
Dianthus ‘Bridal Star’
This was a free plug from Whetman Pinks for the Festival alongside Red Claret. I potted it up and then finally put them in the main top border as I didn’t really have anywhere to put it, but it has done really well. Good flowers for cutting all summer. We also planted up an off-shoot, […]
Zantedeschia ‘Mango’
A lovely Calla Lilly which we always forget that we have. It takes a while to appear, but seems to do well in a pot. I may plant it out in the main border over the winter, although don’t want it to rot off in the wet. It only produced one flower in 2020. I […]
Gladiolus ‘Amsterdam’
Wonderful white spikes, up to 2 metres tall. Succession plant the corms to give a long lasting effect. This was also brought down from the Manchester Allotment. I dug these up and cleaned them up in November 2020. The bulbs look large and firm. Will store them for the winter and re-plant in the spring. […]
Primula auricula ‘Lunar Eclipse’
A pretty little auricula which is struggling on. We did manage to split it, but I’m not sure it flowered this year. This little primula was split and kept in a couple of pots by the garage for the winter. It didn’t look great. We then decided to plant down in the new bottom bed […]
Diascia Breezee Plus ‘Apricot’
We potted this up in a pot. It didn’t do well, but managed to survive. It was out front for a bit. Hopefully it will do much better round the back.
Semiaquilegia ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’
A cute little aquilegia. It did go to seed, but didn’t look healthy. May consider moving it in the winter. Will also try to sow the seed.
Allium ‘Ambassador’
A really tall giant Allium. I moved it and split it in spring 2020, and it didn’t do well. It may not come back up in 2021, but we’ll see …
Tulbaghia ‘Purple Eye’
Also called Society Garlic. A lovely little plant, Seems to do well every year. This was dug up and split into 3 pieces in November 2020. Not sure that was the right thing to do though. It kind of fell to bits. 🙁
