Tradescantia x andersoniana ‘Blue and Gold’

A lovely looking little Tradescantia. Unfortunately it didn’t really like the position I first planted it. It was a bit too shaded. It did put out a couple of flowers, but really didn’t look well for the majority of the summer. I moved it to a sunnier spot further up the border and fingers crossed […]

Buphthalmum salicifolium

I’ve not grown this before and I was surprised at how it turned out. Lots of yellow flowers and a strong plant. Seems to be great in my dry soil and established quickly.

Lobelia cardinalis ‘Queen Victoria’

A wonderful tall red flower which brings striking contrast into the border. I may look at bringing in more of these to break up my summer yellows and put some repeats through the lines of the bed.

Campanula persicifolia ‘Blue’

A mid-size Campanula. Not as tall or as elegant as what I nam after, but a lovely little plant nonetheless. Curiously, this plant turned out to be both Blue and White. One spike (and then more) of flowers a completely different colour. Not sure what is going on there, but it was nice. Bees loved […]

Coreopsis verticillata ‘Zagreb’

I had this for many years in my Manchester Allotment. In spring 2020 I thought it had not survived the winter. I dug over the bed it was in and realised there was some roots of it still there. I potted this up just in case. I bought a new one just in case. Low […]

Primula denticulata ‘Alba’

A lovely little drumstick primula which I purchased to up my shopping basket to get free delivery! Glad I did. It has bulked up well over the summer and should do well. It does suffer in the heat a little, but perks up again quickly with water. It was dug up and planted in a […]

Kniphofia ‘Nancy’s Red’

A nice little Red Hot Poker. Hasn’t flowered yet, but has taken well and has bushed up nicely. Seemed to be quite at home in the very dry soil and didn’t need any extra watering during the very hot weather of August 2020.

Monarda ‘Squaw’

A wonderful tall Bergamot. Bright red flowers on single stalks. Mine was struck down with terrible Downy Mildew in it’s first growing season. It is now recovered with a lot of watering and looks to be a lot better now. Fingers crossed it will survive the winter as it is a lovely plant.
