A nice little fern bought on impulse to fill out our woodland bed. It has taken well and seems to be thriving.
A pretty little light green fern to fill out the front of our woodland bed. It seems to have taken well.
A lovely little green fern to fill out our lower shade bed at the bottom of the garden. This one is slightly different to our other Harts Tongue Fern, with narrower, rippled leaves. It established quickly. Should do well.
This was quick to establish and ran up the cane quickly. It got up into my tree quickly and put out some nice flowers. It really didn’t like the hot weather and will need better protection at the roots. I kept it well watered though and it survived. Should provide better root protection next year. […]
A very large and vigorous raspberry type bush. It seems to try and go everywhere, and splits off readily. It’s not a true raspberry. It’s a member of a completely different family of Rubus. Not tried the fruit yet, and its aggressive, untidy nature is annoying me a bit. It might not last the winter. […]
I was looking forward to growing this raspberry as it has done well with me in the past. It died for no apparent reason within weeks without doing much. Plants Galore strikes again. RIP: 2020-06. I got a new one in March 2021.
A wonderfully striking mid-season Tulip. I planted this with our white tulips for contrast. They didn’t come out at the same time, as always seems to happen with these type of planting plans! Lifted, dried and stored in the shed in July 2020 Planted out in November 2020 into the big patio pot underneath the […]
A wonderfully striking mid-season Tulip. I planted this in a pot with our black tulips for contrast. They didn’t come out at exactly the same time, as always seems to happen with these type of planting plans! The effect was lovely though. Lifted, dried and stored in the shed in July 2020 Planted out in […]
A profusely flowering French Lavender. It doesn’t really fit in the grand scheme of my top bed, but the bees love it, so it’s staying for now … Should cut it back after flowering. Dead heading should help it to continue flowering. I forget to do that though. It was dug up and moved in […]
It looked good in the pot when I bought it from Plants Galore, but it really hasn’t done well and just looks like a clump of weed grass now. It may not make it to winter … R.I.P November 2020. Got thrown out in the November 2020 Main Bed – Top Rearranging.
