A nice little flower added to the bottom bed to bring more interest. Hopefully it takes off and does well.
I used to have the white version of this in the Manchester Allotment, and I always enjoyed the late summer flowers. I have seen the red version around a lot this year (2020) and a customer gave me a Rhizome for my garden. It used to be called Schizostylis. I will hopefully incorporate it into […]
This interesting little plant was bought on the spur of the moment from the lovely garden centre down in Bishopsteignton. We planted it in the woodland bed where it should hopefully do well.
I’ve wanted this little blue daisy for a while since I saw it in a lawn customers‘ garden back in the summer. It was bought from Withleigh nurseries which is a lovely little place over near Tiverton. It was a pretty crowded plant in a pot, but looked to be doing well. I potted it […]
An interesting coloured Crocus which we bought as part of an offer on an impulse trip to Dobies off the M5. Planted up with Hyacinthus orientalis ‘Gipsy Queen’ in the white square pot on the Patio.

I do find Crocus do tend to gradually disappear though … rotting away and squirrels probably to blame. Crocus tommasinianus reduced in numbers quite a lot. I planted this new batch (on offer from RHS) […]
A pretty little light green fern to fill out the front of our woodland bed. It seems to have taken well.
I bought this to replace my Helenium ‘Betty’ which never came up. It was an impulse purchase and it doesn’t really fit. Too many yellows. It has done well and it is a nice plant though, just maybe needs shifting a little bit. Lifted in November 2020 and temporarily planted in a pot. It was […]
This was an impulse buy. A lovely little buttercup with light green leaves. We didn’t have a proper alpine bed ready for it when we bought it so I put in the main bed with the other grasses. It really didn’t like our wet winter and did not come up in 2020. Died: March 2020
I’m not sure that this fits in the border yet. It has taken it’s time to come up and do anything, and did blow over in the wind very easily, so I had to support it. I’ll see how nice the flowers are when they come out, but at the moment it looks like a […]
