Hopefully, a lovely tall, Red and Yellow Tulip bought online in autumn 2020. Along with Tulipa ‘Golden Apeldoorn’ and Tulipa ‘Kingsblood’ I planted it in pairs with Tulipa ‘Kingsblood’ in the Main Bed. Looking forward to seeing them. Some of the bulbs were a little mouldy and soft. Hope they come up. I probably left […]
This Yellow floating heart (or dwarf waterlily) is a native British pond plant which came with my pond starter collection from Wetland Plants. It is planted quite deep and in a decent sized pot so may get quite large, which would be nice. It doesn’t look like much at the moment!
Hopefully, a lovely tall clean, Yellow Tulip bought online in autumn 2020. I planted it in a curved line amongst my yellow perennials in the Main Bed. Looking forward to seeing them. Bought online from Peter Nyssen Ltd.
We bought this lovely Senecio (Ragwort) spontaneously at the Powderham Garden Centre as it looked lovely. It is related to the common Ragwort, which I didn’t expect! I was going to put it in the Main Bed, but decided it would look best in out big pot on the Patio with some black and white […]
A pretty Hyacinth that we bought as an impulse buy from the Powderham Garden Centre. Planted in a little pot on the Patio along with a little red primula.
Large-cupped daffodil with solitary trumpet flower. Should be up to 40cm in height, which should be lovely for the spring. I bought these in a large net from Jack’s Patch in Bishopsteignton. A good garden centre which I’ll certainly return to. I’ve planted it in a long row along the edge of my main bed […]
My first go at growing clematis from seed. The seeds were bought from Thomson and Morgan and sown in the spring. They took ages to come up. So long in fact that we nearly gave up on them. Must have been a couple of months. Eventually they grew and I pricked them out and eventually […]
An interesting little Aster. I’ve not had much success with these in the past, but this one had run away and is throwing out lovely flowers within a month. I really like it.
I bought this to replace my Helenium ‘Betty’ which never came up. It was an impulse purchase and it doesn’t really fit. Too many yellows. It has done well and it is a nice plant though, just maybe needs shifting a little bit. Lifted in November 2020 and temporarily planted in a pot.
This was an impulse buy. A lovely little buttercup with light green leaves. We didn’t have a proper alpine bed ready for it when we bought it so I put in the main bed with the other grasses. It really didn’t like our wet winter and did not come up in 2020. Died: March 2020
