This interesting little plant was bought on the spur of the moment from the lovely garden centre down in Bishopsteignton. We planted it in the woodland bed where it should hopefully do well.
I’ve wanted this little blue daisy for a while since I saw it in a lawn customers‘ garden back in the summer. It was bought from Withleigh nurseries which is a lovely little place over near Tiverton. It was a pretty crowded plant in a pot, but looked to be doing well. I potted it […]
I’ve never grown Camassia before and Monty on Gardeners world said these would be really good for a meadow type area to naturalise. I bought these in my September bulb purchase and I bought “one”. Got twenty! The bulbs seem really small for what may be a 70cm plant … I planted them in the […]
I bought this on impulse as I had a really nice Veronica at my Manchester Allotment and this one fitted my colour scheme. It got powdery mildew really badly straight away, but I increased watering and it seems to have recovered well. It’s even putting out some late flower spikes.
I was keen to grow an Iris as I have not done so before. This one should be a lovely blue colour. It has taken well in its first year and will hopefully thicken and flower next year.
This sea holly seems the have established well. It should flower next year.
A lovely looking little Tradescantia. Unfortunately it didn’t really like the position I first planted it. It was a bit too shaded. It did put out a couple of flowers, but really didn’t look well for the majority of the summer. I moved it to a sunnier spot further up the border and fingers crossed […]
A mid-size Campanula. Not as tall or as elegant as what I nam after, but a lovely little plant nonetheless. Curiously, this plant turned out to be both Blue and White. One spike (and then more) of flowers a completely different colour. Not sure what is going on there, but it was nice. Bees loved […]
I’ve taken a punt on trying to grow Agapanthus in the ground as they do so well down here in Devon. This one may need to be transplanted into a pot. It’s not done a lot so far this year. A few new leaves, but that’s about it. I will probably swap it with my […]
A vigorous climber which seems to be quite hardy and easy to train. It also put out a lot of strong shoots in a lot of directions. I bought this one off the cuff from Tesco (along with a white version: Passiflora caerulea “Constance Eliott”) to replace a previous passion flower which was planted in […]
