A plum tree which is supposed to be good for a west fence. Bought this as bareroot, quite late in the season by post from J Parkers. It had a snapped branch and the roots had dried out, but I gave it a good soak and planted it quickly so fingers crossed it comes through […]
A nice little flower added to the bottom bed to bring more interest. Hopefully it takes off and does well.
I’ve wanted a little Blackcurrant ever since my Manchester allotment days. They were so productive there and no bother at all. I bought this little bargain plant at Powderham Garden Centre and, after some thought, planted it in the lawn down the left near the chair. Hopefully it won’t get too big and get in […]
After the large raspberry Rubus occidentalis ‘Black Jewel’ was moved, there was space in the raspberry bed by the shed. Nicola sourced this one on a trip to Morrisons and it looked healthy and should do well. Autumn Bliss part 2. The previous one from Plants Galore was total crap and died straight away, but […]
I wanted to add some colour down in the dark corner of the garden. We don’t really go down there and it is shaded by the tree so we thought a rambling rose might do well and provide a good habitat. I decided on “Kew Rambler” as the one I wanted couldn’t be sourced. Bought […]

I have been wanting to get a little tree in the space at the back of the top of my Main Bed all year, and decided on an Apple tree. I waited until the winter and was going to buy one online, but just couldn’t decide and then when I had decided they were out […]
This marginal pond plant (pennyroyal) arrived as bareroot bunch in December 2020 with a pond starter kit from Wetland plants. This mint was planted on the edge of the pond among the stones. It may dry out too much there, but fingers crossed …
This Yellow floating heart (or dwarf waterlily) is a native British pond plant which came with my pond starter collection from Wetland Plants. It is planted quite deep and in a decent sized pot so may get quite large, which would be nice. It doesn’t look like much at the moment!
This marginal pond plant arrived as bareroot bunches in December 2020 with a pond starter kit from Wetland plants. This was sunk in an aquatic pot and fixed with stones on the first shelf of the pond.
