Foeniculum vulgare ‘Purpureum’

A pretty fennel which has just done it’s own thing this year, despite complete neglect. I only really started to notice it later on when it was flowering and it really grew on me.

I bought it on impulse from an open garden. It looked great there.

Gives good height to the border without shading out other things, which is very welcome. Produces loads of tiny flowers too, but it does tend to seed everywhere. I found some in my strawberries across the garden!

It was dug up and moved in November 2020.
