A lovely little early crocus, bringing a bit of colour into the garden during the drab days of early spring.

I do find Crocus do tend to gradually disappear though … rotting away and squirrels probably to blame. Crocus tommasinianus reduced in numbers quite a lot.

I planted this new batch (on offer from RHS) in the lawn in a bit of a random pattern. Hopefully should be quite low growing and I’ll keep the grass long until they’ve faded away.

Spring Update:

Of the 50 that I planted in the lawn, only 10 have come up so far (Feb 2021). The soil has been very wet all winter though, so they have probably rotted away. I also probably trod on a load of them!
